Canada Games Park hosts a 52,000 square foot square foot track and field centre, located adjacent to the venue and across from Brock University.
Sponsored by GFL Environmental, the outdoor track is an eight lane, 400 meter Beynon Sports Surface outdoor track, BSS 1000 with Hobart texture (with fine SBR rubber granules EPDM); certified World Athletics (formerly IAAF) Class II.
The exterior park will provide world-class athletics facilities and is expected to host regional, provincial, national, and potentially international competitions, as well as provide much needed training capacity in the region for current and future Canadian athletics stars.
The field area features competition grass infield and facilities for all field events (jumps and throws). Events which can be held on the track and field centre include:
- Track events
- Steeplechase
- Hammerthrow
- Discus
- Shotput
- Javelin
- Triple Jump
- High Jump
- Long Jump
